Safety Application Example

 

Robotic Welder Guarding

Application:
Area guarding of the entrance to the load/unload or inspection station of a robotic work cell.

Description:
The MICRO-SCREEN controller can stop hazardous motion either by detecting a presence in the horizontal sensing field, or by an individual activating the integral E-stop input. The safety outputs of the light curtain can be interfaced with an Emergency Stop Monitoring Safety Relay to provide a latch/reset function. By incorporating the Emergency Stop Monitoring Safety Relay, the system also allows for increased contact ratings, additional safety output contacts and PLC feedback outputs.

Guarding:
 All sides of the work cell are protected by walls or hard guarding. A horizontal light curtain (set at 12" above the floor) guards the entrance to the inspection station; its non-contact guarding can offer higher reliability and much longer life, compared to a safety mat.
