Machine Press Guarding Example A
Application:
Point-of-operation guarding of the
opening to a high-tonnage press
Description:
In this example, the angled sensor approach to satisfying setback
requirements saves installed system component and wiring costs. A possible
drawback is the larger area occupied by the sensors, as compared to the dual
sensor (See Example B)
Guarding:
Installing simply a vertical light curtain to meet setback requirements
would create a space between the vertical light curtain and the press which
would be wide enough for an operator to stand inside and undetected by the
vertical light screen. However, by mounting a
MINI-SCREEN sensor pair at an
angle, the required screening and setback are achieved.
